Who makes a centre-fire/rimfire combo?

The OP was asking about a rimfire-rifle/centerfire-rifle combo. Aren't most of the options you guys are listing shotgun/rifle combos?

Maybe I'm just having a brainfart...with age my brain is becoming ever-more-flatulent :)...but I can't think of anything that answers the original question.

I doubt the OP would pay the price of a german drilling or vierling to have a .22 rimfire under a big game caliber.

Shooting a perched grouse with a .22lr that can travel very far and potentially arm somebody when returning to the ground is not a good idea.

Suggesting a centerfire / shotgun combo seems a better plan for a multi purpose hunting platform.

You can use slugs on moose ( around here at least ) and buckshots on deer or light loads on grouse with a 12 gauge shotgun.

Adding a centerfire barrel is giving more reach for longshot on big game.

If absolutely needed for short range work an adapter is available to shoot .22 from a 12 gauge barrel.

You can't use buckshot on game animals in Alberta, and I as well as tons of others use rimfire on squirrels and grouse.

Use a 12 ga with a 20 ga insert over a downloaded .222 for grouse. Take out the insert for a slug for big game. Works very well.

I used rimfire on grounded grouses too. ;-)

A sportsman usually prefer to shoot at a flying birds with a shotgun....

But i suggest that you review your Alberta hunting regulations as it is said that you must use bigger than .23 bullet rifle or bigger than a .410 shotgun on big game and there is no limitations on shots size .

Good luck with your 30-30 and .22lr anyway.

Savage 24 was available in 22Hornet/223/30-30 and either 12 or 20ga. Savage model 2400 made by Valmet, and the model 389 made by an Italian firm were both a shotgun over rifle variance in 12ga over 222 or 308.

Here's a pic of my Savage 2400 I have a savage four tenner insert for the 12ga barrel so with this my gun is in 12/308 plus 410
