Who Makes The Best Colt 1911 Ambi-Safety ?

I'm looking to add an Ambi-safety (Blued) to my Colt 1911 and just wondering who makes the best quality and finish ?

My Factory Grips are already relieved for this.

The Colt website suggests Brownell's or Midway for parts - but I've heard that Gun parts won't make it thru customs (?).

All input will be appreciated.

As a lefty, I've never been able to fit an over the counter ambi-safety to an existing 1911 as well as a pistol that came from the manufacturer's custom shop fitted with one.

The over the counter parts that I've used were Ed Brown and Wilson Combat, and Kimber parts on a Kimber TLE II - which was the poorest fitting of all of them - it just had no room for fitting as a slide in part and was quite sloppy.

I've ordered a fair amount of pistol parts from Brownell's in the past with the proper importation paperwork, but have not done so recently.

I researched them a lot, to put on a Dan Wesson and the one that I will definitely get is the EGW.
Not cheap but the mortise and tenon will never get loose, (as it happens often), since the shaft is sleeved.

A few merchants sell EGW products in Canada but the only one that has the ambi safety at the moment is Freedom Ventures, a sponsor on CGN.

King's used to sell a compact version of their ambi safety, I've used a couple of them. Quite liked them, did the job without all the acreage. - dan

I've used Wilson combat with good success. You may need new grips if the right grip on your pistol isn't already relieved for the little finger on the right side safety, or modify the grip yourself

A 1911 safety tends to be a fitting-required part; I'd be positively astonished if a replacement just dropped in and worked.

I always go with Wilson Combat as my first option. They’ll require fitting though.
