Cant complain anytime a Hollywood movie has hunting in it, most of the time anyways. Seen the movie about a hundread times. Even though it is not very accurate, still a good view :D

I thought the movie was great as well:

Od the lion trap:
Val: Did it work?
Michael: Point of fact, it did not. But I am convinced that the theory is sound.
;)

I also liked the big bore double rifle Val Kilmer borrows from the doctor. Would have liked it even more if it went off when he wanted it to.

I loved the movie. It's good that Hollywood didn't make the hunters look like cold-blooded killers. The characters had a nice touch of humanity. Remington is the ####!!

Levi, ask in the Milsurp forum.
I asked the same question but I misplaced the answer. There are a lot of guys there that know all about it.

It was adapted to the lions of Tsavo.

It was based on Heart of Darkness by Joeseph Conrad.

I can see the Heart of Darkness connection with:

Fitzcarraldo
Aguirre the Wrath of God
And of course Apocalypse Now

but not Ghost in the Darkness. I'd say Moby #### if I was looing for a theme.

Frank, I saw a 303 Enfield just like it at the Calgary gun show this past Easter! It was complete with Express flip up sites and just stamped "Officer's Model" on the action band where the date usually is.
If it hadn't been $800 bucks I would have bought it, what a sweetheart.

In the real life story, all he used was a 303 as per Capsticks rendition of the story!
Although it unfolded quite different from the way the movie portrays.

Listen Ike, I'd get into a literary debate with ya, but I might lose. That said, I am liking my odds against a guy named Lazy Ike:p
