I just picked up a Ruger mark III competition. Love the gun, but the trigger is the worst of any gun I've ever had, or borrowed or looked at or heard of...ever. Wow what a terrible trigger. Sometimes it breaks lightly and relatively cleanly, the next shot it breaks only under an extreme trigger pressure. About 80% of my total trigger finger strength. It is all over the place shot to shot and is useless to me without a new trigger. Holy crap, never before has such a good gun been given such a ####e trigger. Seriously, sometimes I think the "competition" refers to a test of strength to cause the trigger to break.

I never thought I would be the "upgrade kind of guy", but wow...just wow. This trigger is terrible. What Canadian retailer sells volquartsen trigger kits and sears?

No kidding - trigger on mine is decent, sorry to hear it.

I have poked around looking for a Canadian distributor for Volq parts (wanted the extractor) but in the end, Brownells is your best bet...as far as I can figure none of the supporting sponsors carry Volq stuff. Keep your order under $100 they are good to deal with.

Brownells has also been good for sponsoring our IDPA provincials so...yeah they aren't Canadian, but...they "play nice in the sandbox".

I picked up my Volquartsen kit for my 22/45 mark 3 from Milarm.

I was having problems with the VQ hammer, so I left the original one in and installed the trigger and sear.

What a world of difference! After some trigger adjustment and tinkering, I have a very short, light trigger pull with a nice reset. I don't have a trigger pull gauge to give you an exact lbs number, but it's the lightest trigger pull of all my firearms (and I hate a heavy trigger pull).

One recommendation I have before you install the kit, check out YouTube for installation walkthroughs. There are a few that are very helpful.

Best of luck!

I know the rugers can be hit and miss but I have a MKIII Competition and it was not horrible when new but certainly a bit on the heavy side. Started by removing the magazine safety junk and installing a sams oversize bushing and it made a world of difference. Add in the thousands of rounds I've put through it and shes smooth and crisp now.

I've also found if you get some good oil and keep the internals clean and dripping wet shes a lot smoother.

Im in Sylvestres Source for Sports (Bonnyville, AB) alot, and can vouch that they carry a good supply of volq parts.
Although this stuff goes fast due to demand.

Is it new? Reading the condition again it sounds like something is binding. Could be a warranty issue, if it's new. If not, take it apart and check.

Just a thought here but...if it is used, has someone done the mag disconnect removal mod to it? It is possible - just thinkin out loud here - that the hammer is slidin around, if it wasn't properly put back together. Could explain the erratic nature of your trgger pull.
