who serializes AR15 barrels

A friend of mine recently got a stellar deal on an AR15 upper. It was complete and built with high end components such as Noveske, Phase 5, Troy etc.... The only thing is that the barrel make is unknown. Only markings are the caliber listed as .300AAC (which is on the top of the barrel near the muzzle end) and a serial number which is right beside the 300aac marking.

Now I personally have never seen a serialized barrel but considering the original builder didnt cheap out on parts, I assume the barrel is probably a higher end piece.

Anyone have any idea who serializes AR15 barrels?

Are you sure it's a serial number and not a CAGE code? Or a drawing number?

Yes exactly. Its likely to hit the EE and my friend wants to know what the heck he has. I will try and post some pics when he sends me some

It may not be a serial number but rather a batch number. Colt Canada barrels for example have batch numbers. Barrels of a single batch of production will share a batch number.

In my experience the first letters in the serial # represent the manufacturer's name. For instance my Daniel defence barrel serials all start with DD.

They have used barrels from different sources that made them to AAC's own specs and QC so you might never know exactly who made it but if it was sold from AAC you can rest assured it is a fantastic barrel.
