Who shoots IPSC with wheel guns?

Shot lots of pistols before but never shot an IPSC match.
Should be more than a little fun!:D
Pics will be a little while in coming, seeing's how it has to come from the Middle East ( Ontario):D

Start With The Wheelgun You Have Then Upgrade EH

My interest in revolvers and IPSC goes back to about 2000 or so when at the Lakehead I started using my stock Colt Python and S&W Model 25/625 to compete in Level I and Level II Matches. Last match I shot with IPSC Revolver was with the S&W 625 at Russellmania 2007.

Would suggest just taking whatever revolver you now have and get a dozen H&K speedloaders for it along with some pouches to hold at least six or more of these on your belt. Try it and see if you like it. Firing 38 special loads in a S&W N frame or Colt Trooper/.357/Python is like 22 plinking really. No reloading required to start either as factory 38 special loads are relatively inexpensive.

THINK of this as the local stock car speedway phase of the "IPSC RACE"; the S&W Custom Shop 625 or 610 with the 300 $ holster and 100 moonclips and super duper Dillon press etc etc etc is the INDY/Formular 1/NASCAR Phase.

I shot my S&W 38/44 Heavy Duty in an IPSC Match; it was like I was right back there in the 1930s using whatever was available then.

Am taking my S&W Highway Patrolman to an IDPA RO Qualification in two weeks.

Try the best of 1950s technology at the bargain prices it is available at; then move up before the $$$$$ investment.

Don't forget what you are doing there...you are there to shoot and have fun. You compete against yourself and maybe a couple of buddies.

Shoot what you got and have fun. Repeat as required.
No worries, i've been know to shoot a patched round ball gun in ML target matches, hunting rifles in precision matches, pump guns in skeet matches and "oboslete" target equipment in irons matches.

As far as pistol stuff goes, I don't have a pistol adequete for repeating shots. the 625 is going to be fun anyway, as i am the only guy that will be shooting a revovlver , so will be thrown in with the semis.
I already own bullets, the Dillon, and powder, etc.

Glad I was sitting down when I read this post
See you at the range soon with your new Smith (in the pistol bays)
We should be rockin' by next week willy!
I just ordered some new style moon clips made of carbon fibre
so there is no need for tools to load up fory cases.:)
I know there there will be a few heads turning when I show up to shoot IPSC, but it IS with a wheel gun, after all!:D

Great I'm off monday to thursday
I also have a 625 in 45 but never got the holster and gear
I have metal and plastic moon clips
I found the plastic ones flex to much

Cool, maybe we can get enough guys to do a revolver division in Alberta, cause I've got a 625 sitting in my gun room waiting for some excersice, not that I've ever shot it in IPSC though.
