Who shoots trap with 20g regularly?

I can't comment on trap, but I practice skeet almost exclusively with 20ga. It hits practically the same with less recoil. If you're on, you're on. You may not get some of the chips that you'd get with the full 1 1/8oz vs 7/8oz.

I load Winchester AA hulls with claybuster AA wads, cheddite primers and Aliant Unique powder (7/8oz of #9).

I shoot an 870 and a model 12 20 ga on trap regularly. I figure I handicap myself by about a bird around, shooting the lighter stuff.

When I pick up the 12 after shooting the 20 a bunch, I feel very confident.

Yep, works fine at the 16 yd line. Remember, you can load it up to 12 ga. specs if you want to.

But 7/8 oz out of a 20 gauge 1100 Rem is an absolute sweetheart.

I love to shoot trap with my little NEF 20 single shot with a 22 inch barrel. I can pick up tragets and point it quicker than my 12ga fox double or mossberg 500. I usually break more targets with the 20. I shoot 7/8 loads but I can get 1 oz loads. Less shot can be an issue when shooting handi cap (if you are good enought to have to shoot from further back)

My 20ga with 7/8 loads has more recoil than shooting modest 12 ga loads (1 oz or slow 1 1 /8 oz) out of my bigger 12ga guns. The reason is gun weight.

Qualifier : I'm not really very good at trap (20 to 23 outta 25)and switching guns doesn't make me any better. I figure if I own a gun I should use it.

20

i shoot trap sometimes with my browning 20 superposed.it is more challenging, but i also keep my gun un-shouldered pointing down, until the bird comes out. i shoot factory kent 20 ga #9 7/8s

I own 20's but dont shoot trap with them as I dont like how light they are. I do however shoot 7/8oz loads in my 12ga for trap which are basicly a 20ga load. That amount of shot will easily get the job done out past the 16yrd line. My son shoots them back to 23 yrds.
