Who still has Chinese sks?

Supply and demand... Damn you Capitalism!!!!!!!! Could always comb the EE...

Not as plentiful as just a few months ago. Even Russian ones (nice ones anyway) are harder to find. Retailers have a lot of ugly ones now for prices that you could have gotten a gorgeous one, just a little while ago.

Chinese ones don't have as good fit and finish. The wood can be very soft. You're likely to get a stamped trigger guard / pinned barrel and in my anecdotal experience the later Russian ones are more accurate. Nice to have to round out a collection though.

Funny my pinned barrel, stamped trigger guard late production Chinese will consistently hit the 300yd gong shot after shot. Better than a lot of Russian ones I have shot.

Some of the Russian ones don't have perfect bores or crowns and don't have a good tight fit on the stock it's a mixed bag. First 3 Russians I had weren't as accurate as my Chinese but the last 55/56 was a laser gun.

I should add that my current Chinese rifle does about 4"-6" with surplus which is good enough for the 200m gong at my range but it's still not accurate.

I actually think they were $10-20 cheaper at Frontier only about 1-2 weeks ago.

Prices have gone up but some places still have sales. I was at Cabelas North Edmonton and looking at their SK's this week. They have only been open for three weeks and sold 400 rifles in the first two weeks - then to replenish stock they received an additional 60-80 rifles - the sales guy said they had less than 20 left. Even more surprising, they were sold out of their crates of Romanian ammunition and they had quite a few crates.

I got 1 each of the hardwood and laminate last week from tradex and they were in quite decent condition. Wood was 1950 and had a pretty dirty bore, took some soaking and scrubbing but is nice and shiney with sharp rifling. Some force matched parts, some electro pen, mag housing is mismatched. Everything is nice and tight on it.
Laminate is 1953 chrome bore which is nice and shiney, no force matching, some electro pen, mismatch mag housing, very nice light colored laminate stock, everything nice and tight except bayo when closed has a bit of play I can fix with some peening. I'm happy with both of them for the prices.

I am a "bigger" rifle guy and I am coming to this party late...my son is thinking about an SKS (kind of on a whim.) Who has them for good prices in GVRD...?

Can you recommend any of the stickies before I start looking at them?
Check out some of the site sponsors such as Tradex, Westrifle (Vancouver Area), Corwin Arms (Kamloops) , SFRC, etc. Some have Ammo/SKS packages, sometimes free shipping. Sometimes it is better to order from out of province, as you can save some taxes, and if they have a promotion on, free shipping sometimes as well.
