for years i always got my deer...this year is one of the best ive seen for sign..rubs/scrap,s..but with three days in the bush last week ive not even seen a deer:eek:..
am i just having a bad year?or did someone pull that lucky shoe otta my butt:confused:

LOL thats too funny, cause I am in the same boat as you. This year I had tons of sign around my stand, but all I had last week was bad luck. I saw A few little ones, then a coyote started hanging around and I never saw anything else, so I try another stand, and the cattle that usualy are not in the woods during the deer season were all over the friggin land I was hunting on this yr. First time in like 10 years I never pulled the trigger, good thing my buddies I was with got five deer, so at least I will have some meat in the freezer.

but you know.....i still have a few days off at the end of this week;)..
even if i dont connect with a deer..i,ll still be with a bunch of family and friends..

I agree with ya there. The week off I take is not all about hunting, its friends and all the GOOD EATS !!!!! lol Two of the guys I hunted with got two moose last month and brought up some nice steaks and roasts last week, tasted awesome.

Fogducker,

I wish you the best of luck getting your deer. Just get out there & hunt. You'll get one for sure. I believe we make our own luck!

you know to be honest:redface:i could care less if i ever shot another deer..to me its about quality time spent with a great bunch of people..besides in our group..if you shoot it you gut it..so its time to pass up the good spots to the new hunters:50cal::50cal:

It's why it's called "Hunting".

Was out for most of the weekend.

I now consider myself an expert on deer tracks.

I know where they were.

I know where they were not.

Damned if I can tell you where they went to while I was around.

<shrug>

Them's the breaks.

I saw one doe today, and put crosshairs on her while looking for antlers ( any antlers!)
Not 10 seconds after I had her in my sights, along comes the only truck I saw that morning.

<sigh>

Glad it was a doe.

Cheers

I am having a tough season so far as well. Lots of deer in the area, only they move EXCLUSIVELY at night:runaway::runaway::runaway:!!!!! The game camera don't lie on this one. I believe too much feed is still available. Our deer are so fat they can hardly walk!

Got some nice game camera pics, but that's just a tease. Bucks aren't even rutting hard here in this area of NB - necks aren't even swelled much in the pics and they should be by now.

All you can do is enjoy your time in the field. With career, kids, etc, etc, the day-to-day grind of daily life sure does take its toll. The pressure never lets up, and nocturnal deer don't help. But with each day in the field hope springs eternal! Good luck to all out there who haven't tagged out!

Don't worry fogducker, your luck will change. I can send you some used horseshoes if you want, some still have the nails in that way they'll give a better grip and won't slide out so easily...;) :D

maybe your horshoe landed out here... at my place.... hehehe :D ;)
I've had an amazing season with a mature 4 x4 coastal blacktail... a true trophy, and a nice thick beamed 4x4 mulie buck along with a mulie doe as well. Both trips i left for a week and was home after 2 days of hunting.
I love it here in B.C. :D

LOL. When I care, nothing comes near me. This year I only gave up the ducking because friends from Sooke came out for a deer hunt. Should have said deer shoot. Couldn't beat the buggers off of us. I've BEEN caring about getting my elk. Haven't seen a track nor turd.
