Who To Get A Trigger Job From For P99?

Hey all.

I know this is a gunsmith section question, but hope to get a few more answers here.

I want to get a trigger job done on my wife's Walther P99. Mainly take up.

Can anyone recommend a good smith? I have heard good posts about Gunnar, at Armco.......

Opinions welcomed.

well, for one that take up is there because if you de-#### the gun, it will fire as double-action

What do you mean by takeup???

Standard P99 has 3 firing modes

1. Long SA....rack slide and release...trigger in forward position..quickly transitions to SA release weight.

2. DA...rack slide...decock...heavy DA weight...I never use this.

3. Short SA...rack slide, CAREFULLY pull trigger till it CLICKS into rearward SA position....this effectively makes it a Cocked and unlocked pistol but I love this pull...many advise against it.

Realistically when you draw the gun with Long SA...safe compromise...with a smooth pull you quickly fire with light trigger pull. Also you could also 'click' it to short SA when you draw/prepare it.


Note...there is some travel prior to reaching the sear. To the best of my knowledge...not much you can do about it. P99 triggers seem to smooth up incredibly after 500-1000 trigger pulls.
