I am seriously considering having the load port on my M4 honed-out to look like this.
I don't want it to look like "Bubba's work" after 6 beers!
Can anyone recommend a good/best service provider ?

Only place I'd really look to is above. That said, I'm not sure how much custom work they're taking on these days. I know they had been focused on their retail, but it never hurts to reach out. I've had a couple pieces done, and have always been beyond thrilled.

I would not want port work on an aluminum shotgun unless I was a competitive shooter, since it obviously involves stripping off the hard anodizing from that area.

Well, it seems that those who are in the know all lean towards Tactical Ordinance... I have to give them a holler!
Thanks for your input everyone !

Stripping anodizing from aluminum ain't no big deal for me... its kind of my side gig actually :)
Do it all the time to all types of projects

Do you do that professionally or is there a kit you can buy?

I have a small, side business in engraving.... I try to be a modest man, some of my clients have said that I have some interesting talents.
Considerable investment in equipment... unfortunately, there isn't a DIY kit for metal engraving.

Do you have a BFL so you can legally work on people firearms. I may have some work for you.

Your not giving yourself enough credit. It's not as difficult as you think. I hogged out the loading port on my brand new Mossberg 930 JM Pro and it looks as good as the one pictured ion your post.

Casey and the boys at tacord do great work that cant be beat, I agree with oldfart as well, Depending on the shotgun and your intended purpose, Its not to difficult to do yourself. I did this one with probably 6 or 7 ryes under the belt! It was to take the edge off of maybe wrecking a $1200 gun.

A vice, Some rotary bits and some elbow grease, Did this in 2017 and its never let me down in countless competitions,

This is it 7 years later after taking a little more off and a bunch of new internals, and some other stuff.

Wow that is some damn nice work right there!

I totally get what you're saying about using some "booze to ease into a job" that has costly ramifications if things go sideways.
My second ever gun engrave was that "Hellfish" on the side of my own BCM A/R receiver.
The engrave took place in my basement shop well after the May 2020.
Having figured that my gun is basically worthless right now, it was still unsettling watching the laser carve into the side of a gun that was $2,300 brand new!

The first engrave was a couple months after I got my laser... Red Ryder lever action BB gun.
A $60 replacement value = no stress whatsoever!

Thanks for the recommendations everyone.
I got a hold of Casey and the M4 will be shipped off to Tactical Ordinance by the end of the week for some work (loading port, A&S trigger group, TTI extended carrier, & bigger bolt release)!

Glad to hear they had an opening on their dance card. Look forward to seeing the end product.

Would love to see the after work and hear about it.

Got an M4 and Canuck Operator that I would consider sending into Tactical Ordanance.

Tactical Ordinance is the way to go. These guys are serious professional!
I was tracking the package on the way to them.
They received it around lunch time, and had they completed the work and shipped it back to me in/around 24 hours !
Casey did inform me that caught them at the perfect time -in that they had their mill already setup for a Benelli M4s when they received mine....
Nonetheless, one day turnaround time is still damn impressive.

* Opened up feed port, tuned the shell latch
* TTI Accuguide Lifter
* A&S billet trigger guard
* Drill and tapped bolt release (I already had the TTI Bolt Release hardware)
* TacOrd reduced weight trigger spring

As an engraver I have a watchful eye for perfection in symmetry ...and they absolutely nailed it !
Its looks like the gun was made this way right out the factory.

I am waiting for my Widwest Industries handguard to arrive from I Run Guns.
Once it gets here, I will assemble and then assess what I want to do for engraving and cerakote.... leaning towards engraving USMC logo and filling it will either Glacier Gold or Burn Bronze.
