Has anyone had any experiences purchasing firearms over the web and mail order from wholesale sports ? I have never bought a firearm from them or from a store over the net before and was wondering if there were any issues good or bad..

Thanks

Take a peek at the sponsored retailers at the top of your page, i am sure one of them has what your looking for and they are safe and friendly to deal with

I ordered a NIB Ruger MkIII 22/45 .22lr pistol from them a couple years back from the online website. Called the toll-free order number. Ordered on a Mon, arrived on Fri the same week. I've also ordered a number of different accessories from them over the years, reloading components, dies, scopes, rings, bases, etc. Never had an issue.

NAA.

I have had both positive and negative results from WSS. Sometimes you get what you ordered in a reasonable time, and other times, you get a phone call a week after being told that they have it in stock, only to be told, that they no longer have the item in stock. When shopping for new firearms, I start looking at Prophet River, and then if they don't have what I want, I try other sources such as P&D.

The best shopping at WSS is if you go into the store and buy the item that you desire if they have it in stock. Make sure you know what you want, because they don't know much about the products. My experience is to avoid putting things on order.

As said above, go with the site sponsors to be sure.

I went in and ordered a rifle from wss and it only took 5 days to get it. I called around to all the other gun stores in the lower mainland and they would either not call me back or I would have had to wait weeks to get it. I could never get them to actually get me a price on the rifle I wanted.

One way or another almost all of what I buy I done through mail order. I've never had a problem with WSS or Cabelas. Bottom of the list for over the phone customer service is Le Baron.

Have ordered a rifle and reloading supplies with good results, on what they had in stock.
Just got a call Friday, that an item that I ordered in '09 is now in. At least they're still thinking of me.

Two years ago I bought a Marlin rifle from them. Easy and quick. Since then I've ordered a few times from them and if one of the items was backordered, they held up the entire order until the unit arrived (they don't tell you, either, they just don't ship). I'm at the point where Wholesale is a "last resort" for buying items, since I don't live near one. Besides, since I joined this site I've discovered a lot of outlets that actually WANT to sell you stuff.

I use to buy a couples of thousand a year either wss or cabelas... Since i joined cgn i have spend a couple of thousand with the sponsor, much more service and nice guy... JP

Problem with WSS, if it isn't in their warehouse, or one of their stores, they generally have no idea of when they will get it and from what I've gathered they don't do special
orders. If you give Elwood Epp's a call you might be pleasantly surprised: great selection, great prices and great people to deal with. Even if Epp's doesn't list an item, they will
generally do everything they can to get it for you and give you at least a rough idea of how long it will take.

WSS - Issues

My preference is to order through a smaller local or one of our sponsors here. I found with WSS is that their telephone service is lousy, in terms of being able to get through to someone.

The second is that if they don't have, it goes on backorder and one is left in limbo as to when the charge will come of the VISA. you have to keep calling back.

Thirdly, they are not big community supporters and getting donations outta them is like pulling hen's teeth.

Although, I have ordered once upon a time and when everything went through, service was good and they did tell me what my delivery charges were going to be.

If you can't find the gun anywhere else, go with WSS. I think if you search the above sponsers sites, you might even find it cheaper.
My 2 cents.

Never had a problem with WSS Winnipeg and I've bought lots of stuff there that Cabelas didn't have including guns and ammo. I find the ammo selection better at WSS where I can generally get my Federal Nosler Partitions. They got an A bolt 25-06 in for me from the Calgary store in just a few days at a time when it seemed nobody else could find one.

For special orders, I go to Jo Brook Firearms in Brandon or Wolverine Supplies at Virden. Neither WSS nor Cabelas will accept special orders.

X2 for positive vibes. I called all over the country as far at Halifax and back to Victoria to find my Ruger 77mkII stainless lefthand 30-06 several years ago. None of the dealers anywhere had one and I was told I should expect to wait at least a year. I called WSS and not only did they have one it was a full $200 less than most of the other sites I looked at. Had the gun 3 days later. Nuff said. I have bought stuff from them as well but that was my first real purchase from them. Still have it, still using it.

Over the years I have bought both rifles and handguns from WSS mail order over all I was very satisfied with teh service I ended up sending 2 rifles back but that wasn't due to anything WSS did the rifles had issues...
