Why AR Magazines Might Not Be A Good Idea For .223 Vz 58

I'm making this thread to people who are thinking about getting the AR-15 magwell adapter for the .223 Vz 58. The magwell adapter may not be such a good idea. As convenient as it is to have access to a more commonly available magazine at a cheaper cost and made out of metal, there is a down side to the design. Its not the actual magwell at fault but the way the rifle holds the bolt open on the last round. The follower of the AR-15 magazine is responsible for operating the last round bolt hold open tab but the problem is that the bolt of the rifle is slowly chipping away at the magazines follower and eventually will not be able to hold the bolt open on the last round.

As you can see here, the follower is chipped and this magazine will not hold the bolt open anymore. "Replace the follower then" I did and it happened again. Plus, to get the follower out to replace it, you have to drill out the rivet, put the new follower in, and then re rivet the magazine.

Here is the original magazine and how it holds the bolt open on the last round. A much better design.

And so, I have removed my AR-15 magwell adapter and have gone back to original magazines. I'm probably going to sell the magwell adapter and my two Lar-15 magazines but haven't decided yet. Or I may trade it for a Vz 58 / SKS sighting tool.
