Why Are Sako Rifles so expensive?

Like the title says. Why are Sako rifles so expensive compare to other European Rifles like CZ. I saw a dealer advertise a Sako 85 Grizzly in 8X57 for 2999.00$?? and other post thier rifles for 2500$ on the EE. They should be priced like a CZ. Whats so special about SAKO?
 
Seems to be the rifle of choice on all the hunting shows on OLN...topped with a Huskemaw scope of course.
You can also buy a kewl SAKO ballcap at wholesalesports.
 
European rifles are made to last a lifetime.
You can argue about quality but it's always expensive (and often worthwhile)!

In North America quality is optional,

CZ and Sako aren't even in same league in terms of fit and finish.
 
They're expensive because they do a pretty good job on them and they dont have a bunch of uneducated apes on the production floor.

Unlike Remington which will sell you a hunk of crap regardless of what price you pay, doesnt matter if its a 300$ or a 3000$ custom shop, still the same junk model 700.
 
Sakos are very well designed and very well built guns. No corners are cut and the workmanship is near flawless. We've just been conditioned by the makers of econoguns like the Remington SPS and Savages, (don't throw buns, I own both) to expect that rifles should cost well under $1000.

Having said the above comments, I wouldn't pay $3000 for one. A friend of mine just bought a Sako for $2000 which it is worth, but I wouldn't go much higher, at least until hyper inflation hits our economy!
 
next time you hold a sako - pay particular attention to the quality of lathe work on the action and bolt - also sakos are known for their excellent triggers - fully adjustable and break like glass ....
 
Every Sako I've owned was quality. Not every CZ, Remington, Savage, etc. have been. I also haven't paid $3000 for any Sakos but from what I can tell they put quality into everything they put out. Even the A7 that I had was more smooth and had a better finish than most.
 
I've had the pleasure of owning 3 Sakos, the TRG-S (30-378 Weatherby), 7mm STW and the TRG 42 in. 338 Lapua. Unparalleled distance and grouping achievements. Only my Remy 700 in. 338 lapua can compare. If you search around, the deals are out there. Brand new 42's have come down to the 3500$ range now if im not mistaken. However...do some research on the TRG-42 and youll realize the price is right for what your purchasing :)

Having owned several of each I would have to say my Remingtons functioned as well as my Sakos and are considerably more accurate..... just my experience...
 
Sako is all about attention to every detail, very tight tolerances. It takes a lot of time and quality materials to build that way. I'd always kind of passed over Sakos thinking their just rifles for snobs or whatever but recently looking over a neighbour's finnlight I was pretty impressed with pretty much everything about it, I'm starting to get it.
 
That's a good question... I think like the above posters allude to: the quality of components, fit and finish is superior. Better triggers, all metal components (no plastic mags), nice lumber, accuracy guarantee, cold hammer forged barrel etc.


It's my opinion that quality rifles are like good booze - once you try it you're spoiled for life.
 
Higher degree of fit and finish, 5 shot MOA accuracy guarantee. Higher production costs in Finland compared to Czech Republic.

Ok, ok ... Even tho I have owned several Sakos ... I will try to be objective ..

Let's do a side-by-side test:

For example .. CZ FS (http://www.czub.cz/en/catalog/364-centerfire-rifles-cz/KL/CZ_527_FS.aspx) vs. Sako FS (http://www.sako.fi/sako85models.php?bavarian_carbine)

Considerable difference in price, yes ... BUT ... the difference in QUALITY is night and day. Maybe that is why one costs more?
