Why are Type 81 in the milsurp EE?

I don’t get it. These are new production, not milsurp. If they were, they’d be 12.5 and milsurp would still be the wrong EE forum.

I did see a post where someone said they were based on a decades old military design. True, but so are the AR-180, AR-15, M305, SG542 etc.... what they aren’t however, is actual military surplus.

Winchester M70 is based on the Mauser. Should all Mauser based designs, regardless of whether they’re actually mil issue or not, now be in the milsurp sub forum? Hell, most firearms, including antiques have been designed with the military in mind at some point. Let’s just scrap them all and have one giant free for all forum. All this is doing is ensuring that the target audience are not being reached.

Only if you wanted to purchase a Type 81 and went looking in the modern sporting section. I rarely visit the milsurp EE and I certainly wouldn’t go there if I was looking for a commercial production firearm.

And if it doesn’t really matter as you infer than why bother to comment if it doesn’t matter? Why have sub forums at all? I imagine the point is convenience. Like minded people discussing or selling of items that are of interest to the group. It’s like Kijiji, if I list a bicycle for sale but put it in the motorcycle section does it matter? No, but no one looking for a bicycle will find the ad. The difference here being that the person that listed it is at fault.
 
The real question is why do people keep asking ridiculous prices? There is a long list of Type 81s for sale that no one is buying yet demand is high

Why... prolly the same reason that M1 Garands go for 2 K and Finnish M39's go for a 1000?
Because they can...supply and demand.
All who bemoan the high costs of a piece...well, they don't have one. If they did they would be sitting back like a banker...smiling away. Saying little...just smiling.
Try not to do such things myself... seems pointless. Both smiling or whining.

Exactly! .....I have one I'll trade for a Garand! :)
 
Wow, 1st world problems lol. Id leave it in surplus, wasn't that long ago you could still find (Irish contact) new lee Enfield's. Or howabout my AIA Enfield, not really a surplus, but that's where it would get the most attention I bet. I scroll them all. good way to see price trends. cheers...
