Why can't I remove my SKS magazine?

Hey guys,

I'm having the exact same problem as this youtuber -

I'm trying to install a Tapco mag but the default magazine in there right now doesn't budge whatsoever. Anyone have any advice?

Mine was stuck in there pretty good the first time I tried removing it. Just give it a good whack, it's probably dried cosmo or something that has it stuck.

It seems like there is some metal rod that's keeping it from being popped out. I'm afraid of bending it but I tried whacking it and I'm a pretty strong guy.

I have removed several and never had a problem. Isn't there a lip that the mag slips into at the front of it?

Doesn't seem like it. But it doesn't wedge.

Stuck remove trigger ghoul and receiver group then use a wooden dowel to punch it out.

Stop being a pussy and put some muscle into ithe lol. Just messing with ya. Mine is still really tight every time. I just munch it on the longest part and wiggle it out hard and it will eventually come out.

The bolt is keeping the mag under pressure not allowing it to be rotated out of the stock. Remove bolt cover and spring. remove bolt and carrier, then mag will be able to come out of the stock.
Simple.

No. The magazine follower engages the bolt stop. So it doesn't work with out a magazine.

If the tapco magazine is empty, I can't close the bolt on the rifle. If I take the magazine out it closes fine. I don't have any non-live ammo to test it out with ammo on - does this sound right?

Yes that is normal with the Tapco mags.

With an empty Tapco mag inserted you need to push the mags ramp down to drop the bolt catch so that the bolt can pass and close.

When no mag in the rifle, you have to pull the bolt back and with the other hand push the bolt catch up with your finger.
The bolt will then stay propped open so a Tapco/detachable mag can be inserted.

Thanks everyone for the help! It was a struggle but so worth it in the end! I'm planning on getting a scope and eventually an AK-47 style stock for it!

Guys, new issue. The bullets wont load into the chamber or feed, from the magazine. The top bullet gets stuck halfway.
Any suggestions?
