im just trying to figure out why in the heck they canceled the spring bear hunt in ontario?? what was the hippie idiots thinking was so bad about the spring bear hunt???

i seriously want to no why they wanted it cancelled becasue i really want to try and get it back!!

I think it started in Toronto every thing else does. The newspapers published a picture of two orphaned bear cubs.

Lots of Antis, tree huggers, PETA... got involved... and a fewer number of hunters and outfitters.

The rest is history!!!!!!!!

Actually it was Husky Manufacturing's Owner who threatened to withdraw his contribution to the Harris government's election campaign. they are adament antis of the highest order. Harris backed down despite the multi million$$ revenue the outfitters were getting and wiped out a whole industry in Northern Ontario. Never did like the bastards,JITC
 
Purely political Robert shad Blackmailed the Government into cancelling the Spring Bear hunt. Even though it has costed the Government 100's of thousands of dollars and they know damn well there is no scientific reason for the cancellation and the adverse affects that the cancellation has had with economy, human bear conflict and the ecology they still won't reinstate the bear hunt!!! I have sent numorous letters in regards but to only get goofy responses from Deb Stetson who shouldn't be involved with the MNR!!!!! Ramsey puts it off to her and the premier puts it off to Ramsey typical Politics!!!
 
Thought this was an interesting topic. In Alberta, they cancelled Grizzly hunting. They claim they needed to do this to get an accurate count on the Grizzle population. I guess I can KIND OF understand this. I understand simple addition too. Live bears + dead bears = total population.

But isn't there like a squillion black bears in Ontario? I looked up some info, and according to Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters, it has been nothing but bad news for the public.

I guess some people would rather get eaten by a cute n cuddly bear than a ugly old Turkey.
 
Purely political (monetary/party suppot) ... and not a "science based" decision whatsoever.

Too bad, politicians should never be allowed to manage game ... they can't even manage themselves !!!
