Why do people say this?

Berdan primed ammo, once it is fired the brass is scrap? I have a wole bunch of it saved (7.62 x 51 empty cases). Should I just send it to the scrap yard or can I reload it?

Berdan primer is a bugger to reprime due to it's design and Berdan primers itself (from what I understand) is hard/ almost impossible to obtain

Generaly not worth the time, especially for x51. scrap it.

I have a buddy that used to reload Berdan brass but there is a bunch of stuff you have to do and it's almost not worth the trouble.

most guys that reload Berdan only do so on obsolete of hard to find rounds. Not worth the hassle on easy to find stuff. AJ

Far more trouble and expense(if you can find any berdan primers) than it's worth. Make some drawer pulls and pitch the rest. Some scrap metal dealers will buy it, but unless you have a great deal of brass(by the pound), it's not worth hauling it to a scrap yard.
