Why does this stock have a recess?

Guys,
I know i seem to have all the weird mausers lately, but why is there a lowered part on this one? Every other mauser 98 i have is straight in this area. This stock has no markings except in the barrel channel "8306C"

And before the bubba talk starts again, yes i took the shellac off another one (which was flaking off by the way) and im giving this rifle the nice oil finish it had in the first place before the commies smeared that goop on it. And yes i do have 2 more RC's and I WILL LEAVE THEM in commie trim.

Never mind.......found the answer. Now, WHO HAS ZF41 RIFLE # 8306C AND HOW MUCH DO YOU WANT FOR IT!!??

Thats neat. Part of fun of RC's is you never know what mix you might get. Personally I hate the flakey commie shellac and have no problem removing it, but to each his own eh?
