I have one eye that is ok and one which has a tear at the macular majour. So I sometimes have a pronlem with binoculours. Now a spotting scope has it's uses but who wants to carry one around their neck!

I would like to have a decent mono that I could slip into my pack or carry it on a sling. Is that to much to ask?????

i know you're probably going to puke when i say this but if you have 650 bucks you can get the leica crf 1200 which has the added bonus of being a rangefinder as well and the glass is excellent it can double as a monocular...or you could spring for the swarovski which has fantastic glass but near double the price. The leica is actually very portable and is basically pocket size the swarovski is substantially larger and heavier but usuable.

anyone know how the quality with minox is?
i keep looking at the one in the cabela's/sir catalog, 8x25 i think, listed at $260.00 ish.

I've had monocular vision for over 40 years. Initially, I thought using a monocular would be the way to go and I used one for a few years. I think it was a 8X25 Bushnell and basically, it was a POS with poor light transmission and it's small size made it difficult to hold steady for any length of time. Finding the target quickly could also be a pain

Ultimately, I went with a decent pair of 8X42 binoculars. Better light transmission and handling made the binocs a better choice for me.
