Why hardly any IPSC matches this year??

I'm in Ontario and seems like there are hardly any IPSC matches this year

Sure there are some (none close to me) but still nothing compared to last year. Why??

Likely because everyone wants to shoot the matches but very few are inclined to get their hands dirty setting up and running them.

Running match require time and dedication.
That is why I will not criticize anyone who makes matches possible that they had bad stage or something went wrong.
You want to shoot more, another option is shooting USPSA

true shooting USPSA is an option but for the last few years there have been less and less big USPSA matches in the North East US. It seems if you want to shoot big USPSA matches your looking at a 6+ hour drive (most are 10+) They are worth it but you need have the time and money to travel.

As for Ontario some of the old guard are getting on in years and have other thing eating up their time. Also June, July and August are prime vacation time so its a little hard to get all the help needed so traditionally there are less matches (other than a few majors) .

National Pistol Championships still underway in Calgary until the 6th August.
Some action shooters could be officiating/competing in the 2700 or ISSF events perhaps.

ISSF and action shooting is pretty much oil and water.

heck the heads of ISSF are FORBIDDEN to even join IPSC. Not sure how far down the ladder that rule goes.

Hmm, I have shot in 11 matches this year already and I missed a couple because I was away for a while. All were within 100 mile radius of the GTA except the Nationals in Kingston. There are matches out there.

"Everyone wants a picnic, but nobody wants to carry the god damn basket".


I find myself using that line all the time when talk of matches comes up.
