What is the reason for sacriligiously marring milsurps with that stupid electro-stencilling? Argh! I've seen some beautiful milsurps out there only to have their character tarnished with those damn import marks. Makes me want to cry.:(

The real idea is to spoil the value of some of the really nice milsurps. It is just another of the "little boys club" rules that the bureaucrats have piled on us. I think it would be a good idea to etch the "country of origin" on the hood of the fancy-a$$ cars that the bureaucrats drive. Only the etching should be done with a chainsaw, or air hammer. Any other ideas??:p :p

Comes from the U.S. Gun Control Act of 1968. Enacted after Robert Kennedy and Martin Luther King were murdered. It stopped mail order firearm sales, the re-importing of Lend-Lease U.S. firearms, et al. Plus requiring any imported milsurps to have the importer's stamp on them. It had nor has anything to do with the Third World Debating Club.

"It had nor has anything to do with the Third World Debating Club."

Unfortunately, the UN is picking up on the idea and wants all member countries to place import stamps on all guns they import. Liberals were a big fan of the plan and they may be gone, but our dear federal bureaucrats are still here and very big on the idea!

Makes me value (historically) my non-import marked stuff alot more now. I got a beautiful M44 from a fellow CGN'er, it's just sad that it had to be import marked.:(
