Why is the new Browning A5 $200 more than the Maxus??

Is is the ABS case it comes with? Is the wood that much nicer? Is it because recoil-operated guns are simpler to maintain/more reliable? Is it the "mystique" of Browning's original A5?
Why does the gas-operated feature-packed recoil-light Maxus run $200 cheaper than the new A5?
 
Are you talking actual price or MSRP . there is only a 20.00 difference in price between the 2 hunter models at the gun dealer .
 
Sorry but there will never be a A5 worth what a maxus is as far as fit, handling etc. Unless maybe they got it right this time unlike the originals. They were like holding a log with a barrel and that receiver . Please. OK now all of the A5 cult can toss me under the bus ;);) Believe me I tried to love them many years ago but just hated the way they handled and only kept a sweet 16 just because it was a 16ga.

Under the bus for you! Though I could forgive you if you sent that Sweet 16 to my mail box ;)

From the retail prices I've seen in Canada, they seem a lot closer than $200 (depending on the model of course)

The Maxus is another in a long line of Browning's attempts to regain some of the auto loader market. Browning had a good run with the original auto 5 as it was a decent gun and had little competition until Remington introduced the 1100. The B2000, A500 (in both gas and short recoil configurations) and the B80 all were attempts to replace the Auto 5. Finally the Gold put the old work horse in the ground. Since then they brought along the Silver and the Maxus. Neither have made much of an impression. I think Browning is hoping the reliable short recoil action and nostalgic looks of the A5 will catch and hold. Oh ya, if it costs more it just has to be better, right? I expect to see another Browning auto loader introduced in the near future.
