Why K31s and Older Swiss Rifles are not common here

I thought that K31's and older Swiss rifles were common in Canada - I have a bunch including Vetterlis.

i have 2 k-11 carbines one original and 1 switched to 308.

i would shoot my original 7.5 MORE if ammo was more easily available.

they are very nice guns and the vidio was interesting as well.

In the video, when they are shooting the rifles prone at the range, they are using case catchers and what appears to be some kind of sound suppression-deflection units in front of their rifles.

Very good video, I wish Canada was more on the serious side of firearms and utilizing them as an asset in protecting Canadians, their homes, and their country instead of treating everyone, including law abiding registered gun owners, as criminals in waiting.

The K31's, K11's, etc. at TradeEx are more expensive than the ones in the US, but are generally in better condition. One of my G11's and the 1889 I got from there were 90%+! The metal on the K31's was about 95%+, but the stocks were a bit dinged up. They always have a good supply of the various Swiss rifles, along with brass, dies, and bullets.

I own a very nice K31, which my little cousin in Zurich would probably be very jealous of if he knew! In a few years time he'll have his Stgw 90 and I'll be the jealous one...

Any idea what the steel one does to the brass? I don't imagine many Swiss load 223 given that they seem to get it free at the matches.

I would say K31's are commonly availible. I could find about 5 different places where you could buy one right now.

Main idea of the deflector is to prevent bopping the shooter to the right of you with you ejected brass. Reloads are not allowed in the Swiss Military matches, only when competing in Sport Rifle, Free rifle ISSF, or CISM matches.

Does bang up the cases a bit.
