Why not a straight-pull AR-15?

well technicaly its not a semi..... It's a bolt action....

So wouldn't that mean we could then get "normal" cap mags for it? (no mag restrictions on bolt actions)
No. They would be AR15 magazines.

All these threads from "newbies" with such amazing ideas about ways to make AR15's non-restricted rifles, or other such "loop holes", are a waste of space. If it seems like a simple solution that should have been done already, then it means it isn't a solution that will work. If it was something as stupidly simple as making a straight pull AR15, don't you think there would be some?

I'm not trying to be a ####, but honestly, do you people really think other more qualified individuals haven't already been over all this?

Why hasn't some clever entrepreneur devised a straight-pull clone of the AR-15 that we can use non-restricted in Canada? Surely the Chinese could adapt their M4gery tooling.

Aside, of course, from the fac that the Feds would probably crack down on it anyway and nobody would buy it.

Because it would be restricted, I had a straight-pull AR-15 when I lived in the UK and I thought about importing it. It took ages but finally when I got an answer from the CFC they said it would be restricted. The restricted firearm order doesn't mention action, it mentions type.

Perhaps you can modify the design to the point that it is no longer an AR-15, e.g. the straight-pulls that Southern Gun Co. sells in the UK, but I have a feeling it would have to be a lot different going by what happened to Dlask.

No, because the prohibited device order says "designed for". I also asked the CFC about this one because my L98A1 takes AR-15 mags and I had a couple that were made for it. Answer: they must be limited to 5 rounds because they were also designed for use with the L85A1 and L86A1 which are full-auto.

That's what I was thinking.

I just figured if the Chinese had the machinery to stamp these out, they must be able to adapt them somehow.

Dlask made a pump version and it was deemed restircted because it looked like an ar15

It was deemed restricted because it used an unmodified AR lower reciever. We'd still be limited to 5/10 rnd mags because it used AR mags.

It was fun to shoot though!,, if only it had specific mags so we could load 30 rnders i'd have bought one. The one i fired was a hoot!

Actually, it used a different lower that could not mount a standard AR15 upper. It also had it's own mags that didn't fit in an AR15, if I recall correctly.

The thing that sunk them was Dlask saying themselves it was based on the AR15.

I'm very sorry sir I will never ever post in the Black Rifles section ever again!

Did you get the sarcasm that time........

Because the welfare worms that make up the RCMP come up with arbitrary rulings on what is or isn't restricted. We need an elected official to slap them around a little, get them dancing to our tune. They're supposed to provide a service to the taxpayer, they're doing a horrible job. Their confidence in job security needs to be shaken.

If we can get normal cap mags for our Bolt action AR's..... (As long as they are marked for use in a bolt action AR)

We can use them in our normal AR's (like we can use the 10 rnd AR pistol mags in our AR's)

I think this is something we should look into! :D

Cheers!
:D:D:D:D
we definity should!

I fired the one that went to the rcmp for original verification. It had a regular AR lower, i know, we swaped an upper onto it and shot. He may have modified it later, but the decision was it was still to easy to make into a functioning AR.
