Why so many .22?

Because AR's are fun to shoot, a rimfire twin to your competition rifle is a great practice/trainer gun and .22LR is a lot cheaper than .223 ammo.

Ding, we have a winner.

Anyone know where to find a dedicated AR upper with a 1:14 or 1:16 barrel (or whatever twist .22LR is)? I don't imagine I'd get stellar accuracy out of a 1:7 twist barrel.

might be able to find a spikes one somewhere, i really wish someone would bring in the spike kits again so i can build a dedicated upper

Seems like Spike's hasn't been available for quite a while now. Apparently they haven't been too quick on filling their orders with distributors/retailers.
