Why T97 has a different mag release as the original T95?

I noticed that the original T95 used by Chinese cops actually have ambidextrous mag release, as seen below

Why did they make it worse on T97? Why not just keep the original one?

T95 uses a mag like the AK platform : one you rock-in the mag-well so the latch is located at the back of the mag-well.
T97 is a modified T95 to accept AR15 mags because 223/5.56 caliber. the latch is located on the left side of the mag-well.

Because the magazines for the original QBZ95 are not AR15 magazines, they are more akin to an AK magazine that rocks into the back. As it's current setup, it's not possible to add a new method of magazine removal.
