just noticed there are two shotgun forums - one for green and one for black shotguns. Why separate? Which one would be my shotgun then? It is old pump Ted Williams in 20g retrofitted with red dot scope and folding stock. Look very black because of folding stock is of black colour. This is my hunting gun though, I got all my last years take with it - one bear, one deer and one grouse. Is it waterfawl gun or is it slug gun? I shoot both through the same barrel. Or maybe it is still tactical/home defence? Help me out guys. Will I be trown out from sporty shotguns forum if I try posting there? :confused:

If you have a question about useing your gun related to hunting post it in there if it is about defence against somethine two or four leged or what have you post it in the black/green.
It is not what the gun is,it is what the gun is used for.

I would just post it here. I love my hunting shotguns as much as the next guy, but they are a bit touchy over at the sporting forum.

I think its for the same reason that there are three areas for the semi-auto rifles (black & green, "battle" rifles, and red rifles). I think the labeling was a bit arbitrary, but the mods can only please most of the people most of the time, rather than all of the people all of the time.

With the rifles, for example, I'd rather have the categories as:

"Mouse guns that I saw on the latest Mall Ninja movie" - for the folks who will spend twice the cost of the rifle on ergo grips and frickin' lasers;

"Real rifles - that means a .30+ bore, kids" - steel, bullet weights over 125 grains, bolties welcome, because they've defended us a lot better than semis so far, in a whole lot more "battles".

"Budget tacticool" - for the folks who would like to be in category one, but are forced to purchase those eastern cast offs manufactured from melted coca cola machines and welded with the tears of a million slave children. Hey, we all gotta start somewhere!

(Tongue firmly planted in cheek)

I guess there will always be the fudds vs kids arguments... I've been on both sides, and will probably flip back and forth a dozen more times, depending on who is being more ignorant on any given day!

:) It's not too tricky, really. If you're posting about tacticool accessories for your gun post here. If you want to post about hunting or shooting clays with your shotgun post in the other forum. It's not like you are being forced to join one club or the other... ;)

what if you are out hunting with your shotgun, but then you have to defend yourself with that same same shotgun... and its dark, so you also use a flashlight?

Oh noooos:eek:

if it was only that. I am hunter and shoot clays too, but I hate bead sights and I love pistol grip and folding stock. Last time I was taking two out of every three clays with my black/green tactical hunting sporing shotgun. That seemed to shut up some old boys in our club, them nearly banned me earlier, someone thought it is prohibited.
