Why was this thread locked?

Don't know, wasn't me, can't on here, but I am thinking that maybe there were 2 -3 other threads discussing the exact same product withing the previous month.

Just a guess though.

duplicate thread, there were actually at least 4 threads covering the same topic.

Why not say that when a mod is locking the thread? A little explanation goes a long way and should nip any dissatisfaction or resentment in the bud. Common sense, is common sense, and anybody would agree that if there was a duplicate thread, it was sensible to lock it. However, considering just how few new threads are being started in this forum lately, why bother at all? If its getting replies, let it run for the simple sake of getting more guys to respond and maybe drawing more traffic. Just my $0.02

I do agree with the idea that any locked thread should be accompanied by a one-liner from the mod who locks it stating the reason for the lock. Would save alot of confusion IMHO.

Don't need an essay, but something simple like "thread locked - too many duplicate threads already" or something similarly simple and to the point.

Also, if a duplicate thread is burried 4 or more pages deep, there's a good chance the new poster has searched and forwhatever reason, possibly not knowing hte right term with which to search, etc. - might be an idea to point to said thread with a URL in the locking statement - just one man's opinion.

I agree with what you fellas are saying and most/all the mods try to do just that. But of course that being human thing comes into play and sometimes just forget or neglectful.

On the next moderator course Level II, I am sure this will be covered

But yup, it is a good reminder, thanks guys.
