Why would a gun be sold with rings?

I often see ads on the EE for arms sold with rings but not the scope? As a relatively new shooter I am curious but I'm sorry I can't figure out why would the rings not go with the scope rather than the arm?

Because the seller either wants to keep the scope or wants to sell it separately. Bases and rings sweeten the deal on a rifle, and they’re likely not much use to the seller. They could be removed and sold separately, but who wants to dither on $50 worth of used rings/bases? Just leave her attached, and the new owner can do whatever they want with them.

Once they are on a rifle and working it seems that it is best to keep them together , they may not work on the next rifle , tuning and adjustment parameters. Example would be rings with windage adjustment , just easier to leave on rifle.

"Don't worry about those extra holes, the bases will cover them up." - seen on a Brownells' gunsmith kinks' T-shirt

Hypothetically if someone bought a CZ centerfire rifle, and the specific rings manufactured for that it makes no sense to keep them as they won't fit anything but another CZ... or Ruger mini14, Redhawk, Super Redhawk, German claw mount.... It's easier to say unless the rings are for more universal mounts like a picatinny rail, Weaver, Leupold/Burris standards etc. there is no point not to sell them with the rifle.

As my only experience to date had been with rail mounted scopes I didn't get it but now with the better understanding I see why it makes sense to leave the rings with the rifle.

Thanks for the purchase! All of out tikkas now come from Stoeger, Canada and do not include the rings. We sell an absolute ton of the talley lightweights for the T3's....

Good to know, I like the Talleys, in my mind they are a really great purchase for a light or ultra light style build, I actually went with the game reapers which are similar but a little more robust on the caps and more rounded edges, probably slightly heavier but similar. Its nice to have options.

I really liked that T3 LH hunter, but found a steyr model M that I had been looking for and passed the T3 on towards covering the cost, but it was a slick rifle and would highly recommend the T3 hunter through you guys.
