Why you should wear eye protection.

Its overwelded. The rear should've been bevelled nice and clean and one small tig weld all round would've been sufficient. ..and as for heat treating, CAPITAL BS. I never heat treat anything unless I'm hardening something for wear resistance. P.M me i'll fix it for a box of .45.

You only come from the factory with one set of eyes
that's why I always wear eye protection.

I'm not a welder, so I will limit my comments to the human side of things:
I am very glad you are ok. :)

you cant really tell a welds quality by its appearance... and tig 90% of the time looks butter smooth... a "good" tig weld can range in appearance from a "stack of dimes" to invisable aside from the heat discolouration.

you can even double over a crappy mig/stick job with a tig to give it a fine finish even tho the original weld is horrible...

not knocking anyone here, believe me i have alot of respect for welders/fabbers/tin bangers etc because i work in that field from time to time... but just because someone has such an such a ticket does not mean they have specific experiance with any given situation, some things require very specific hands on experiance that is only gained by trial and error... and sometimes dumb luck :D

if nobody made mistakes the world would be a very dull place.
