That was a horrible thing to do to an SKS eh? But it made me pick up the magazine and read it so I guess it worked for them.

In a way. It is a photo from Calibre magazine where they torture tested an SKS by treating it badly and trying to half destroy it
to see if it would still shoot after various mistreatments including spending a few minutes in a fire. Still worked!

I thought maybe it was a new way to clean the cosmoline off. Just throw it in a fire for a while, then put a new stock on it.

The article was great. I'm just disappointed they had the action open when they set off the explosives. I wonder if it would have hold up with the action closed.
