Anybody had or seen the Wild Hare/Purdy soft side takedown shotgun case?

purdy_case.jpg

I'm looking for either a plastic shell Plano type or padded soft side takedown type for my 20g O/U, not too-o-o expensive. I'm not impressed much with $100 plus offshore hardshell alum cases that seem to be common around, and the soft sides travel better in the truck, it seems...

You may wish to consider the couple options below......Boyt or SKB - similar products and very well made. Sized for 12ga though - will take SXS and O/U and even semi/pump with bbls apart if the length is right (well I tried Benellis in one of mine, a Boyt, and those did fit in fine). Comes in various sizes.

Cabela's, LL Bean's, Browning & Bass Pro all sell "Boyt-manufactured' soft, padded takedown cases, that seperate the barrel/forend assembly from the stock/action. I have 3 of them, and have used one of them for over 15 years.
Their longer model ( 34") will take a 30" pump or autoloader or 32" O/U with no problem. With reasonable care, I'd say their life expectancy is somethin around 25 years or more ...( or at least, that's how long I've had a Boyt full-length scoped rifle case - and it's still going strong ) Quality construction of heavy canvas & leather with brass zippers ... so don't sweat the $ 85 bucks or so it might cost ... after a couple of decades, it will seem pretty cheap when you ammortize it's cost. A good investment.
