The Edson Fish and Game range has just approved our dates for WRAS's 2017 PRS matches. We will be holding matches on the following dates;

May 13- IN THE BOOKS!

July 8- PRS MATCH- ALL DONE!

September 9- PRS MATCH- Distances out to 1000m, 4-6 Stages

WRAS will be holding our third and last Precision Rifle match for the year at the Edson Fish and Game range on July 8. We will have about 6 courses of fire with a round count of around 50-70 but courses of fire have yet to be finalized. Distances will range from 100 to 1000 meters, with most targets within 600 meters.
As always the match will be rain or shine. Be prepared for the weather by having appropriate attire for all 4 seasons in Alberta ( because you can get them all in one day!) Bring enough food and water for the day, there is no where to get supplies close to the range. Camping will be available at the range. Some of us will be out at the range Friday night. Fires may be prohibited depending on restrictions placed on open fires from Alberta Sustainable resources. Alternatively, Fickle Lake Camp ground is about 20 minutes from the range.
To sign up for the match please send an email to wrassignup@gmail.com, please give name and WRAS member # if you are a member. Match fees are $50, plus a $10 WRAS membership fee if you are not already a member. There will be 40 spots open for this match. The Range Brief will be at 9:15 AM and first shots going down range for 10:00 .

We look forward to seeing you on the range.

For a new shooter interested in joining the sport, can they come to just observe? Anything I should keep in mind for people choosing to do this?

Sylvertiger there are only a few things to keep in mind in this sport in Alberta:

Come out and expect to have fun,
There are some seriously crazy good shooters who are more than happy to help with your progress/advancement in this sport,
The PRS community in AB is very supportive and are very easy to get along with,
The shoot organizers are consummate professionals with incredibly devious minds when it comes to courses of fire,
Have I mentioned it is a ####e pile of fun, and we get to shoot stuff a very long way away.

If you can get some gear together to try shooting match fees are very reasonable. Might be a bit more interesting than just watching. Just an idea.
