Wildcat Woes

Buddy acquired a new winchester wildcat. Cleaned it and took it out for a try out the other day. Needless to say, he's a little disappointed. At 30ish yards, its having a hard time with a 3" group. Thats with a scope, and irons. All the screws where tight, we tried a few different types of ammo. He cleaned it again yesterday and we took it out for a quick outting before it rained, minimal change. Itblooked to me like the stock might be almost touching on one side of the barrel (huge gap on the other side) so told him to look into that first. Anything else we might be able to check? Anyone with experience with one of these?

Sorry to hear about the dissapointment. Thanks for sharing though. I having been kicking myself for not jumping on the 4 that went for sale. The kicking has stoppped.

Yeah, everything I have read and watched...better options for accuracy out there for sure. He was looking at the mossberg plinkster, and I had suggested the marlin semi auto and remmy, but he was hooked on that. We will see what we can do with it.

Glad I did not jumped into getting one. Just like when Ruger Takedown came out, lots of quality issues. From crooked sight to some other minor defects, it was eventually fixed within a year. I hope Winchester get these flaws addresssed ASAP. That rifle is promising. Time for another serious 10/22 competitor.
