Will .308 hurt a 1.5-4.5 32mm Swift Scope?

I was given a Swift Premier 1.5-4.5 x 32 scope that when googled, seems to retail for about $200. I'd like to mount this on an M14 via an ARMS18 mount but want to make such it will hold up to the recoil of .308.

Is there a rule of thumb when determining what recoil will do to any given optic? I'm pretty new to optics overall, typically shoot irons.

I kinda suspect that the slam-bang cycling action of the M14 will be much more likely to cause problems than the little .308 recoil.
