The model 1917 S&W New Century I had was a large frame, at least as big as the Model 29.
The cylinder had been reamed and shortened to accept 45 Colt cartridges, the barrel had been replaced with a later NOS 45acp. It would accept and shoot 455 Webley/45Colt very well, without any issues and was quite accurate with either.
