I'm looking to buy a discontinued Badger Ordnance Stabilizer Handguard and I'm wondering if it will fit my a Armalite AR10. The person I'm buying it from had it on their AR15. The barrel nut looks to be the same, but I'm new to AR10s and don't know a whole lot about what parts are interchangeable.
Any help would be much appreciated. Here's a pic of the handguard I'm talking about.

Barrel nut is not the same. An armalite barrel nut isn't even the same as other .308 AR's, It's larger in diameter if I recall. I also think the AR 10 version of the handguard like you have is larger overall. I think the to rail is quite a bit higher. I have one on my AR10, and I recall it was to high to fit an AR15, so if you have an AR15 version it would be too low. All of this is from memory since it has been a few years since we tried it. I know we custom made the nuts to adapt one for a friend, and it looked so odd he never used it

More like he couldn't afford the rest of the upper ;)

The thread for AR308 and AR10 are the same diameter but a different pitch.

As a side note, the extrusion used in that tube is the same as what the receiver of the Bushmaster 17 (or whatever it is) bullpup is made out of.

Most companies that make handguards for AR10's offer barrel nuts for specific riflebrands. Wolverine generally offers handguards for .308 AR's, and right next to it offerthe same handguard for Armalites

As Dogzilla mentioned the AR15 one won't work. There is however an AR10 version as seen on the Canadian DND uppers. You should also know there were apparently two versions the four screw version as seen againon the DND rifles and the two screw version as seen on the picture above by the OP.

On one hand these handguards are awesome. Add on rails, two sling studs at the front, free floated, have that German purpose built look and are really tough. Plus they sit really well in a front bag. They are however very heavy.

I have two DND AR10 rifles with them. I wouldn't change them for those rifles for the above reasons and it keeps them as accurate rare examples. But if going for a handguard today I would look at other options. Noveske NSR keymod, MI SS G2 keymod or for a modernized version of the Badger I would want an AR10 version of the Diamondhead T handguard (same sort of look but more up a bit). I don't think they make one for AR10 or 308AR rifles. If they did I'd go that route.

I'm the same, I have one of the DND uppers, and with the 24" barrel and that handguard you just about need a gun carriage to tote that thing around (I think it's like 17lb), but god damn does that thing shoot

The reason why I'm interested in the Badger Handguard is because I carried the AR-10 on tour and I'm trying to build one of my own. I have to say I'm seriously jealous that some of you have DND uppers/rifles. If any of you are ever interested in selling, PLEASE send me a PM!
Also, thanks for the all the info. You may have saved me from purchasing the wrong handguard!

Wow. Would love to hear what you thought about them. Personally I consider them to fantastic accuracy AR10 rifles.
You can find some threads on the civilian owned ones if you into the search function and set it for more than 3 years. The thread titled Twins at Mission range is a DND AR10 thread. Sorry I'm on an iPhone or I would post links.

If I see one on the EE or hear of one for sale I'll send you a PM. I've come across three of them so far.

Also if you find yourself in the lowermainland I'm positive a DND AR10 shoot could be arranged and you could borrow one to shoot.

Other alternatives are to call Wolverine and see if they have any hidden in the back room for the handguard.

One thing to keep in mind though is the barrel. While not a DND version I know Fireball had his SASS version for sale. I mention this because the barrel on his and my SASS rifles are 20" SASS to DND spec. IE they are identical to the 24" DND ones except for length. Including the 1:11.25 twist and unique threading. Lucked out on finding those in Canada. Friend of a friend deal. I spent almost two years sourcing the parts with the barrel being the toughest.

Thanks for the info. It was actually the SASS rifle on the EE that made me want to get started on my own.
As far as experience, it was an awesome piece of kit. Linear recoil, quick semi auto, what's not to like. Could ring the gong, center mass, all day long. It was also a joy to carry, gave me considerable range and power without being too heavy. AND, still very effective in regular combat. Used it in lots of tics, not just hunter killer style. I've engaged in close quarters with a C8A3 (10 feet) and the outcome didn't give me a lot of faith in 5.56. Much happier with 7.62.
