will a savage Mk II stock work for a Lakefield MkII?

My wife just got her dad's old .22 lakefield mk II after he passed away and somewhere along the line the stock got busted, I was wondering if the new Savage MkII stocks will work with the old Lakefields. I would like to get this gun up and running since it means a lot to my wife.

You could probably find a used mark II for the cost of a new stock. there have been several lately in the EEs. Then you have original parts.

I know I could buy another one but the safe is getting pretty full as is and I have seen a few stocks for the normal barrel for around $30 at Epps
