The Bushnell website says their warranty only applies to the original owner, but I was wondering if anybody has had any (successful) experience having Bushnell cover a purchased-used scope?

I'm currently trying to deal with Bushnell with a warranty claim. I'm the original owner. We sent the scope in on June 10, or there abouts..... it's still there. I hear this is very common for them to drag there ass. I like the scopes, but I think it might be worth the extra dough to go Leupold.... just because of there warranty.

I bought some marine binoculars used and they showed up with some loss of coating on an objective lens, poor collimation and the compass could hardly be used because it was too dark. It was a model that was sold with a lifetime warranty. I didn't know that when I sent them to Bushnell and asked if they could be fixed and how much $ it would be. I never mentioned warranty and didn't say anything about having bought them new or used. They didn't answer or explain anything, but they sent them back with the compass and collimation fixed, no charge.

Good luck.

Its sad to hear so many negative comments on Bushnells warranty these days. Its been quite a few years since I have made any warranty claims with them, but I always had Excellent service with them. In the past, I have returned scopes, bino's, and a few years ago an old Tasco spotting scope that someone was throwing out, and they always sent me new replacements asap. I remember about 13yrs ago, I sent in a really old Trophy scope right before hunting season, an they replaced it with a new elite series, and I received it by courrier in 2 days!!

Oh, and as for your question, they have never asked for a receit or warranty card or even ask me if I was the original owner, but as I said that was a while ago.

Its all the negative comments in the past year or so I have been hearing that has made me switch to Burris. I guess I will only find out how good Burris's service is if one of my new scopes crap out..... hopefully they will not.

I've had a scope in at the Burris Canadian Warranty centre since October. Haven't heard any word back yet. It would be nice if they would even email me to say its in their system.
