Well as the title say, I'm wondering if shooting CB shorts in a LR match barrel will do any damage that would affect the accuracy in the future. I've use the search feature but none of the thread dealt with the accuracy of a match barrel.

I know it can form a ring and leave lead/carbon deposits. Will it errode the throat and to what degree if it does? Will cleaning the chamber damage it?

A steady diet of short ammo would no doubt have an effect, but popping a couple hundred and cleaning poses no problem. My CIL/Anschutz 310 is marked S L LR on the bbl. It's a sporter though and feeds shorts without fail.

Yeah, I probably shouldn't worry about it. Yours says specifically it'll shoot shorts. We'll see when I load up my friends anschutz with shorts and go to town on it. lol.

That's the idea but the problem is coming across them in my area. Shooter's Choice is all out, so is the gun center and al simmon. What little came up is snatched up by the time I get there. All I can get are CB shorts and CB longs from CT.

A few of us are planning to do some quiet shooting on the weekend but want to see if it'll affect our barrels. I have a Norinco Ns522 and I know a buddy is bringing his Anschutz 1827. I guess if he's really concerned he's just not going to shoot that one. We'll have plenty to choose from.. :)

Shooting the shorts will cause no problem in the bore what difference does a 29 gr bullet make over a 36or a 40 gr bullet where the probl will be is in the chamber because the case is shorter it will burn half way up the chzmber cause corrosion and leave a ring . That be said u would half to shoot 1000's of rounds or more for that to happen
