Will CLP clean these bbl marks up?

If the phosphated finish in these areas has been removed CLP will likely mask most of it or tone down their appearance, if it's just a minor surface scuff it'll disappear entirely. BTW nice, proper 14.5" you got there.

Thx. In the 1st pic... see that rusty color looking stuff along the edge between the Handguard Cap and FSB? Is that phosphate also? I thought it was rust the first time I looked at it. I asked a few others and they mentioned phosphate also.

Pretty much any oil will cover that. The phosphate finish is much like metal velvet, if you crush it, it will leave a mark. Oil will fill in the structure and even out the surface.

Most manufacturers assemble the barrel, handguard cap and front sight base and then park it. What you see is particles of bead blast media that was in nooks and crannies that lifts out when it is dipped. The rust looking stuff should come off when it is oiled. I use an M16 toothbrush to gently scrub it off.

What brand of barrel is it? I know some of the LMT barrels as well as all of the Colt barrels are parkerized before assembly, but lots of builders don't.

The oil coating should remove the marks on the dry finish.

Last LMT barrel I removed the FST off of was assembled BEFORE parking.

OK this is is a silly and slightly offtopic question, but why do AR barrels reduce in outside diameter near the front and then go back up before the flash suppressor? I've been wondering about this for a while but had no idea how to search for the answer.
