Will a cooey single shot 16 ga handle a 45-70 round? Ive got an old 45-70 barrel from another project kicking around.
I was thinking about a barrel insert. It would be black powder only on the loads. Any thoughts on this?
Build it, load it up with an overload using smokeless powder, fire it remotely, if it is still together do it again... if it is still together you should be able to shoot it with moderate black powder loads.
if anything id bush the firing pin hole but other the that it should take it no problem. a lot of double shotguns mostly ones made by greener are converted to much more powerful rounds then .45-70
Many of the doubles that were converted had a doll's head, or third fastener for strength. The Cooey has none, and is not known for strength. I imagine it would be OK, but I would caution you against shooting it lots.
