Will Norinco CQA's take a Mil-Spec Buffer Tube?

Hey guys, Here is the situation, I have a Norinco CQA that has the stock commercial *norinco* size Buffer tube on it. I just ended up getting a Magpul CTR stock which unfortunately is for a Mil-Spec Sized buffer tube.

Could I buy a Mil-Spec Buffer Tube with Locking Nut, and then swap the spring and buffer from my Commercial Tube to install on my Norc, so that my CTR stock will work??

Or am I basically stuck and need to return the CTR stock to try and get a commercial sized one? The CTR was from a member of CGN so im attempting to not waist money on shipping and find a better solution then to just sell it.

Any thoughts??

Thanks

A mil-spec tube has the same thread pitch and diameter at the threads as a commercial tube, but the threads on the Mil tube aren't flattened. The Mil Spec receiver extension should thread onto the Norc lower.

You should be able to re-use the receiver end plate and castle nut, and just replace the current lower receiver extension with a mil-spec one.

Wolverine has Armalite ones for $30.95.

ArmsEast has Stag ones for $55.00.

Make sure when replacing it to torque it correctly, and stake it. There are plenty of how-to's online.

Regards.

I wouldn't go with this one. I did buy one from Wolverine (not bashing Wolverine, I just didn't know better and bought a crappy one) and it's not mil-spec in any way, it's not mil-spec in size (mil-spec MOE rattles quite a bit) and it's not in material and process. It's 6061-T1 extruded, pretty soft (receiver end plate notch crushed the threads with not a lot of torque making it not vertical but at a slight angle, and it nicked bad when I slightly bumped it on something while moving it on my bench) and the inside is rough as hell (back bottom of my BCG drags on it, I suspect it's not machined straight/horisontal neither), not as strong as 7075 forged, which the Stag one is.

Just buy the Stag and save yourself from the hassle.

Thanks for the info.

I don't own any Armalite parts, or use them on my builds, so I only listed it as I went looking for "milspec" tubes, and found it listed as such on their site.

It did appear odd that it was less than half the price of the LMTs that I normally use, now I know why.

I'm probably going to replace it with Arms East's Stag RE. I don't like having a weak/soft RE on my AR-15.
