Will other brands of pilots work in a Lyman trimmer?

Lyman pilots are like hens teeth in Canada. Specifically I’m looking for a 17, 25, and a 6.5.

Some brands interchange. If the shank size is the same they work. Hornady is the same shank "I think" but wouldn't swear to it.

I've had success finding less common pilots on ebay.ca and amazon.ca by searching "case trimmer pilot" but watch the shipping prices, sometimes it's stupid high.

Lyman is OEM only. Sucks because I have one.

A box of dougnuts to a local machine shop (or friend with a lathe) might fix you up, takes about 10 min. to cut a pilot to any specific size you might need.

Having pilots done on a lathe is fairly easy. But I gotta love this 10 minute idea and doughnuts.
If everything is in place and ready it is. I know my lathe won't get turned on for doughnuts.
$1.75 for the part and 23.25 for knowing how to make it. Find someone local to make the part.

I was finally able to find a Canadian dealer that has all that I need for a reasonable price.
