A buddy just got a great deal on some Molly .223 bullets. Will shooting them
in an AR or M14 (gas operated rifle) harm the rifle? Or should he stick to using them in a bolt gun?

The molly coating will not harm anything. You will get some of the coating staying in the barrel. There is a Big debate on if the molly coating helps with accuracy. Some say it is the greatest thing since sliced bread and increased accuracy, others say it does nothing other than dirty up your barrel. other than that I dont think it is any big deal. I used them on a bolt gun, and did not notice anything.

Moly and humidity don't mix. Search it on Google and you'll see many problems when you combine the 2.

Personally I'd never fire any Moly coated ammunition in ANY firearm of mine.

I have shot thousands of rounds of it out of my bolt rifles. It does not increase accuracy, however it does reduce pressure and velocity so you need to bump up your load slightly.
I have gone over 800 rounds before cleaning when shooting moly bullets without lose of accuracy. Never had any problems with mosture/humidity attacking the barrel.
