I have a sporterised #1mk3 (I bought it that way) and I find the safety lever too short to corfortably reach. Will the longer lever from a #4mk1 fit and work?. Thanks in advance for your help.

Probably not. Although the No.4 grew from the No.1, there are only a few common parts.

I would caution you not to meddle with SAFETY devices for operator COMFORT. Even if it fits, there is no guarantee that it will always and positively engage each of the required surfaces with sufficient resistence to work properly.

In my modest experience, the parts were designed by men with fighting experience to be easy to reach and function. If you are still unhappy, get a spare. A gunsmith can weld / screw / bolt on whatever lengthener you need.

I agree, I wouldn't mess with the safeties internals, thats a good way to get somebody hurt. The safety lever was designed with the origional stock shape in mind, my sporter style stock puts my hand in a different position. I was hoping to get away with not modding a safety lever but that seems like the road I am going on. Thanks very much for the reply I appreciate it.
