Will vintage Redfield survive on a 12 g ?

Will this Redfield tracker survive the punishment if being used on a 12 g setup for Turkey and slugs for deer ?
I have the scope and a set of Burrris Low Zee Rings not being used for anything.
OR, is a red dot what I should be looking into buying ?

I propose a field test is in order.
Maybe an M8 4X would stand the battery better?

A field test is always fun, but could be costly and ruin a $225 scope, plus I'll never know if my next shot will be true to aim or did the last shot in the field test destroy it.

Had one of those on a 338 Ruger for a few years. Never had any issues with it. - dan
