I decided to install a peep sight on my Marlin 336 but I still not too sure what sight to buy, Skinner or Williams? I'd like to get you feedback on these two brands. Any comment would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

One element you might wish to consider is that the arm of a gallows style sight is more prone to damage if the rifle sees hard use compared to a sight that sits on top of a stem. I've seem more than a few with bent arms. Advantage - Skinner. But of you like the look of the gallows style sight, and are willing to accept its comparative fragility, then you've made your choice. Just to muddy the waters, also consider a folding tang peep sight.

I have had Skinner peep sites on a couple of Marlins.
They are great sights, and I would certainly recommend one but I don't have any experience with the Williams to compare it to.
Good luck.

It also depends on how much you change your sights. If you do a lot of target work or change loads a lot, the Williams FP sights have easier repeatable adjustability. The Skinner ones you're moving dovetails and setscrews. If you're only shooting commercial ammo or working up one load and sticking with it, this isn't a big deal of course.

I really like the Williams ones. I don't find them to be fragile, and the 'gallows' is pretty low most of the time unless I'm shooting really far, at which point I'm not hunting anyway.

Skinner looks more traditional in a way.

I've only used one Skinner, and it's on a Ruger No. 1, but I like it.
It's solid and relatively compact.

The William's sights I have are not the gallows type, they sit on top of the reciever on a couple of .22's.
They are made of aluminium alloy, and are pretty sturdy, but they're not hard steel.

You might want to look at the XS as well, they are also compact and rugged.
I have one on a HVA 9.3x62 and one that fits weaver bases that is currently without a home, I like the XS a lot.
Brownells offers a long stem XS post that is threaded to accept Wiliams aperatures.
The stem can be easliy shortened if it's too long.

I have a Skinner on a Ruger #1 and really like it. It suits the rifle and is slim and appealing to the eye as well as being quite functional and easy to adjust.
However, the adjustments are coarse and there are no index marks on this particular model to indicate how much you are moving the sight to change the windage or elevation.

I have used Williams sights, both the Foolproof model and the Guide model on other rifles and they are very good as well. The Foolproof model will provide you with MOA click adjustment for both windage and elevation. The Williams Foolproof and the Lyman receiver sights are both excellent and you would not go wrong with either.

The Williams Guide sight has excellent windage and elevation adjustment and it is small, sleek and there are index marks on the sight for both elevation and windage adjustments. It will mount right on to the scope mount holes in the receiver of your Marlin. It is less prone to going getting snagged on things like an arm of the gallows style such as a Foolproof.

Just Google Williams Receiver sights and download their catalog. You will see both models.

Another popular receiver sight is made by XS. Althought I do not have personal experience with these, you might want to check them out before making your decision. I believe they too make a sight for your Marlin.

+ 1 for the skinner. I put a set of the skinner express sights with the black gold option on my guide gun and I love it. Just make sure you get a few aperture's with it and it should cover all your shooting needs.
