I really love the Williams peep sight I installed on my SKS, much better than the tiny slot of a rear sight that is stock. However, because I had to adjust the front sight post so far to the right, lining up the rear peep with the front post allows me to see the front sight hood in the top right hand corner. It's a little distracting.

Do people just ignore the visible hood? Or is there a better solution?

The williams has windage too so you can probably move your front sight back and adjust the rear windage to make up for it thus eliminating the unsightly front hood...

Assuming you have the firesight set with the adjustable rear peep.
I would, via filing and shimming the front post, center the front post in the globe.
Then adjust the rear sight for your windage.
Use shim stock aka cut up pop cans and small steel washers to accomplish the task.

Center your front sight. Adjust the rear to align your sights. Unscrew the insert & your rear sight will ghost out if you want.

Thanks. I actually bought the rear sight from you guys. So to clarify, the "insert" is the part that makes up the peep sight right? You're advising me to remove that to make the see-through hole bigger right? Thanks.

Some feedback: my sks shoots 5" high at 50 yards, and but the Williams sight can only be lowered so much, so the rest has to be done by raising the front post which would then move it above centre of the hood. Other than that, I love it - so much easier to use than the horrible stock rear sight.

Has anybody tried the rear peep sight for the Williams? The one that replaces the conventional sks sight, NOT the reciever mounted one.
Comments? Worth it? Please PM me.

"...had to adjust the front sight post so far..." I'd re-install the rear sight. It's not centred.
"...5" high at 50 yards..." Too close, but change ammo before you do anything else.
